For nearly 30 years, the arbequina olive’s namesake town, Arbeca, has been home to the Romà family olive tree farm where Dauliba oil was born. In the past, however, there was not even a single tree. This land was from where we extracted the aggregates of our construction company Romà Infraestructures. Once the extraction of aggregates from the field had been exhausted, the family decided to provide continuity and value by restoring it and later planting olive trees, turning our passion for arbequina olive farming and the creation of quality extra virgin olive oil into reality. This is how it all began.
We knew exactly what we wanted: we imagined a juice, an oil pressed without the pit, made from pure pulp that, whenever we tasted it, would bring us right to the field and the scent of just-picked olives. But it’s evident that to create a different oil, you have to make an effort and research long enough to find the recipe. And more than anything, you need the right sophisticated machinery. We finally had it. A machine created especially for us that separates the whole pit from the flesh and later extracts the olive’s juice.
Dauliba and Aura are quality organic oils. To make Dauliba, we harvest the arbequina olives when they are in their initial phase of ripening to amplify their taste and healthful properties to the max. One of these properties could be their high level of polyphenols, micronutrients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, we harvest at daybreak to keep the olives cool, below 22 degrees, until they reach the mill; this is how we conserve their qualities and obtain a better oil.
In Lleida, we call an olive an “auliva”, an expression which forms part of the tradition we've attempted to capture in our oil. Adding the “b” from arbequina and Arbeca to to give the image harmony, we created the name of dauliba. An authentic juice from olives, d’auliva. The design of the bottle represents the reinvention of a product as traditional as the olive with the touch of innovation that dauliba’s production process represents. The same olive as ever, but deconstructed. In the design, the olive releases two wings. The upper wing represents the extraction of the pit, and the lower, the juice which falls from the olive after this extraction. A striking, bold design born from deep inspiration, and most of all, from passion.
When we think about what Aura means, a gentle, pleasant wind comes to mind, a special atmosphere surrounding an area or a living thing. This is what we feel when we stroll through our family’s olive orchard, nursed, cared for and respected for so many years. We feel an aura surrounding us. Us, the land, the plant cover, the living things inhabiting it, the olive trees. What could be better than to capture this sensation in the name and image of our cherished brand? Aura, inspirational Aura!
